Tattoos are beautiful, but you must remember that they are essentially open wounds on your body. Learn how to take care of your tattoo.
Ask your tattoo artist when you should remove your dressing. Depending on the tattoo and the artist, it may take between 2 and 24 hours before your dressing should be removed. When you do, wet the bandage thoroughly under warm water and peel the dressing away very gently and slowly. It will be sore, but it should not be terribly painful.
After removing the bandage, rinse the tattoo gently under an indirect spray of lukewarm water, rubbing gently with your fingers to rinse off any blood or leaked ink. Allow the tattoo to air dry.

After the first cleaning, simply make sure to clean your new tattoo gently three times a day.
Rinse it under lukewarm water, and do not use a loofah or any type of scrub on it. Pat it dry or allow it to air dry, and then apply your ointment to it again.
Do not pick at the scabs, and when you go to wash your tattoo, remember to wash your hands first.
