treatment
These are the steps for the treatment of a new tattoo or piercing
Three hours after the tattooing session is over, remove the plastic wrap from your skin, gently but thoroughly wash your new tattoo with soap and warm water, and allow the area to air-dry without using a towel or tissue paper. Once it’s dry, re-wrap your tattoo in plastic wrap.
This process must be repeated every four hours in during the first 24 hours immediately following the end of the tattoo session. There is no need to get up during the night for this, but do make sure you use fresh plastic wrap each time you re-wrap the area.
Once 24 hours have passed, remove the plastic wrap, wash the area again, and begin treating the tattoo with Bepanthen Plus cream.
Spread a thin layer of the cream on the tattoo 3 times a day, thoroughly (but gently) massaging it into the skin.
During the first month, refrain entirely from exposure to sunlight, seawater, pools, hot tubs, and saunas.
Do not scratch the tattoo or peel the skin off around it – avoid touching it altogether except to wash it in the shower and apply cream. Remember that the treatment of a tattoo directly affects how it will look in the years to come.
After your tattoo is healed it is highly recommended to apply high-SPF sunscreen to it before exposing it to sunlight. This is because the UV rays in sunlight can break down the pigments in the ink, thereby causing the tattoo to fade or smear.
** The treatment for your tattoo may vary – follow the instructions given to you by the tattoo artist.
Clean the area of the piercing three times a day with a cotton ball soaked in saltwater or saline solution. Make sure you thoroughly clean both sides of the piercing.
Every evening before you go to sleep, use a q-tip to spread a thin layer of Bepanthen Plus on both sides of the piercing.
Differents kinds of piercings require different amounts of time to heal, and healing time will vary from person to person. During the healing process, avoid touching or moving the piercing and do not remove or replace the jewelry until the area has completely healed. Be especially careful with shirts, jackets, hats, and other clothing items that may brush past your face when you put them on as they may snag on the piercing and reopen the wound. The same goes for your sleeping position – try to sleep in a position that places no pressure whatsoever on the pierced area.
** The treatment instructions will vary slightly with each type of piercing – follow the instructions given to you by your piercer.
